The Man & The Mustache

It's not very often that a film comes along and you say "What an original idea!!!!"

The Glorius Mustache Challenge
has clearly triggered that statement.
Filmmaker Jay DellaValle (29), has managed to take the hair that grows on a man's (and some women) upper lip and make a creative yet edgy documentary film.

Daring his under 30 year-old male friends to grow a mustache for one month. No beards. No goatees. Just the lone stache. As he began filming their adventure, more men requested to take part in the feat. The result is a hilarious look at one of pop culture's bygone trends and a tribute to the young men risking shame and ridicule to bring it back.

I'm not sure if DellaValle himself is solely responsible for the recent popularity of the mustache on younger men (we'd like to think so) but it has become a trend again. If it's not the hipsters on the Lower East Side of NYC then it's the surfers along the West Coast. On some people it really does look good! And as DellaValle says, "It's a growing business".

So now with our official "Movie Review".....
There is one basic rule about the Glorius Mustache Challenge. Either you are extremely offended by it and end up hating it or, you're like me, and think it's the funniest thing you've ever seen. It really depends on your personality.

All kidding aside. The movie was very well done and at times quite educational. The mustache has in fact been extinct on the upper lips of younger men and the fact that DellaValle was able to get this many guys to grow a stache let alone be filmed with one is genius. I strongly suggest you purchase a copy of the DVD for someone this XMAS. You can potentially be the coolest older brother, Aunt/Uncle or whatever by doing so.

Hear at Fautz Facts, we applaud DellaValle for his creativity, his ability to deliver a great film and his balls for attacking this subject matter.

Having a 'stache for the better part of 14 years (and I am 30 years old), I have noticed this same thing as well. This younger generation is only now starting to wear them again. My 20 year old brother has some peach fuzz that looks more like someone took a writing pen to his face but they are starting to catch on again.
Men are tired of the "do anything to please woman until we become or look homosexual" and are going back to the roots that have been dead for almost 20-30 years now. each generation has their own thing and facial hair is making its way back.
